This small canoe is not a 'Rob Roy' but is obviously influenced by that famous design of canoe. The 'Rob Roy' is also a clinker built canoe but was designed for sailing - this boat is only for paddling but has also been strengthened by sheathing the bows and stern with copper.
Clinker construction evolved in Scandinavia. This is therefore a canoe of European origin, unlike most canoes in this country that owe their origins to the Eskimo kayak or the North American birch-bark canoe.
