Suffolk beach punt similar to Robert Simper's 'Three Sisters' (the only other one left). (See 'Classic Boat' January 1995)
Clinker larch on oak, copper fastened, four thwarts, transom stern. Rigged as yawl with dippin g lug main and standing lug mizzen. (Sails by Gale Heard). Engine: Watercooled Lister 20Hp twin diesel with manual and electric start giving 8-10 knots at 1/2 GPH, 5 Gallon fuel tank. The engine also drives a horizontal windlass mounted ahead of the engine box. Wet exhaust. Electric submersible bilge pump. Manual Henderson Mk.v bilge pump. New hemp rigging 1998. Dressed with Stockholm tar. Painted ash blocks. 1 pair 9' ash pulling oars. 1 pair 12' ash sweeps. 1 galvanised boathook on 5' stave. 1 large folding fisherman's pattern anchor and warp. 3 round plastic fenders. 2 orange plastic lifebelts. Full navigation and fishing lights wired up but not currently fitted. Echo sounder transducer and wiring. 'Four Daughters' has not been restored, but has been carefully maintained and is presented in excellent condition, ready to sail, show or fish.
This replica boat was built for the owner, Sid Strowger of Aldeburgh in 1973 by Knight's of Woodbridge.
'Four Daughters' was donated to the museum in 2001.
