Description

These colourful boats were used for fishing from the beach at Cascais, now a dormitory town for Lisbon. No two are coloured the same and being light they are carried up and down the beach, usually by six men, although the flat bottom and the hard sand would allow them to be moved on rollers. They tend crab pots and fish traps along the mostly rocky shore.

History

These boats were given to the Museum for use by the public, by Heavytree Brewery of Exeter.
